How did it go? (and $250 Best Buy Giveaway!)

This is a compensated review by BlogHer and Intel.

**Giveaway Closed!  Thank you for entering!! The winner of the giveaway is Peace Love and Pets!!  Congrats!**

I recently told you about the laptop that BlogHer sent me that was powered by the Intel® Core™ i5 processor and I'm back to tell you my experience with it! I can honestly say that it's pretty awesome! I've used older PC's before and I always noticed a lag time when opening programs and working on large spreadsheets but this laptop with the new processor definitely made a difference. For work, I was able to work on several spreadsheets at once and then even edit photos with those spreadsheets open and everything went quite smoothly! My screens didn't freeze and I didn't have to restart at all. I mean, if you've used a PC before, I'm sure you've had to deal with that at least a few times! I really liked how well the processor work because that meant that I could get my work done faster and spend more time with my husband and dogs!

Some info about the Intel® Core™ i5 processor:
Thanks to Intel® Turbo Boost Technology,1 the Intel® Core™ i5 processor automatically adapts to
whatever you are doing on your PC, dialing up speed to respond quickly to your needs. The Intel®
Core™ i5 processor: that’s smart performance with a speed boost. The Intel® Core™ i5 processor
also features Intel® Hyper-Threading Technology,2 which enables each core of your processor to
work on two tasks at the same time, delivering the performance you need for smart multitasking.
Don’t let too many open applications slow you and your PC down. Get smart performance now.

I also had a lot of fun using the Intel® Wireless Display which let me pull up my screen on our HDTV! It was actually a lot of fun sitting on the couch and reading through my favorite blogs through our TV instead of the laptop screen. Not sure my husband enjoyed it as much though. LOL!

Don't forget that you have a chance to win a $250 gift card to Best Buy!  All you need to do is to leave me a comment and tell me what you do help you multitask better or faster! And for an extra entry, tweet or blog about this giveaway!

Pictures, pictures, pictures!! We really need the brain and brawn of this computer! Like you, I do everything on the computer on a daily basis. But I'd really like to get this for my husband. His computer is very old and will no longer take the recovery disks to reformat it. (It's OLD!) It has recently begun shutting down every few minutes and I fear its days are numbered. We can't afford to replace it so I'd really love to give him this computer. $250 dollars toward it would greatly help!

What a wonderful giveaway! I could use the money towards our new home since we are about to do a big remodel. Maybe buy a real tv to replace our current dinosaur.

As for multi-tasking, I use to-do lists to keep me on track, since I tend to start tasks and not finish them.

Right now my multi tasking revolves around finding ways to do things with my 6 month old baby. So far the ultimate solution has been carrying him around in the Ergo Carrier...frees up two hands to do other things!

Unknown said...

the best way I find that i can multi task is to first make a list and no more than 8 items and they have to be reasonable and then i prioritze them and the first 5 on the list get down and things go smoothly

Mari Lawrence said...

What has helped me with multi-tasking has been my smartphone (an Android). It keeps my life together :P AND helps me to manage my multiple projects at once! I am coveting the new Samsung galaxy tablet - even more life management programs and an awesome set-up!

For me having my iphone is key to multitasking. Needless to say I use it for everything from emails, video chat, taking photos, recording videos, browsing online, to driving directions, getting movies times and finding essential recipes for dinner. In addition to this I always have my planner with me to jot down those key notes or to schedule an upcoming occasion or event. I think the best thing you could do for yourself is to have a planner. I would love to pick my hubby something special from his Holy Grail of stores, Best Buy!

I would love a new computer as mine is so old. I would use it for my photos. Mine is so slow I can go do a wash load of clothes while it downloads!

Multi-tasking is something I don't even think about anymore. Rare is the time when I'm only doing one thing at once -- except sleeping.

This is an awesome giveaway! I would put it towards a new camera as my point and shoot is at least 7 years old and I'm having twins soon. I really want a camera that will actually help reduce their red eye and take pictures quicker than my current one, and one with a battery that lasts longer than my current one.

I work in radio so my whole day is multi-tasking! The best thing I do is do all my regular work in the same order every day so I know if I've forgotten something, but I also make a lot of lists or notes for myself.

Well right now I have a work-provided Sprint World Edition Blackberry (although my "World Edition" has yet to work overseas even once!). This blackberry is the means by which I multitask but is extremely inconveniently inadequate. My job consists of driving, talking on the phone, checking email, texting, and writing--usually all at the same time. I would really be able to use the $250 to purchase a more adequate smartphone!

My BlackBerry is a god-sent at allowing me to multitask. I set reminders to let me know when I need to switch tasks. Also allows me to blast quick e-mails when I'm out running errands & can't get to my laptop. Team BlackBerry all the way!

I use post-it notes or a list of some sort. It's easy to write out EVERYTHING that needs to get done, and then look through and pair things that can be done together and then organising those in a logical order.

For example:
Clipping coupons pairs really well with watch the newest episode of Castle.
Cooking dinner and folding laundry work well together, timing the folding during the bake cycle of something gets easier every time.

A faster processor would help me by allowing me to do work, browse the net, listen to music and use social media all at the same time ;) Thanks!

I listen to music or a tv show to multitask. Somehow it occupies a part of my mind to allow me to really focus on the tasks I'm working on instead of daydreaming or being distracted.

in order to multitask better i think i need to clone myself - or to hire a secretary - but probably more reasonable would be for me to sit and take some time t make a system

What helps me multitask better or faster? Lists! I make lists and prioritize. Some things can multitask together better than others!

I have lots of pictures that I have taken of my first grandbaby born in April that I need to edit and print just don't have a way to do it right now. This giveaway would make that all possible.
Thanks!

Lists, lists and more lists! And I'm usually doing 2 or 3 things simultaneously from them.

I mostly do just one thing at at time. I mess up one or the other when I try to do two things at once. Thanks for the contest.

I'm a slow multitasker. I just take my time from tab to tab and eventually manage to get it all done.

Sleep early, wake up early, then have a go at making a "things I need to do" list and tagging on an approximate "Time I can spend for each item". Helps a lot. I multitask a lot. A blog article on one hand, cooking on the other, and taking care of the dog running around the place at the same time. Plus the latest sitcoms running in the meanwhile. Making those lists helps me have enough time for all this even though I'm doing a lot simultaneously.

I make a list of things that need to be done and my husband helps me complete the tasks.

My husband does video editing for work, this would help it go faster.

I am a super obsessively crazy organized multi-tasker. I write out notes the night before of what I need to do and what things I can do at the same time to cut down the time it takes me to get it all done.

The only thing that helps me multitask better is having lists and frequent email reminders.

In order to multi-task, I HAVE to have a list. I make up list after list, and then I forget where I put the lists! I really need one place to keep a master list, and then keep referring to that one list!!! $250 would come in handy going towards a new flat screen TV.
