Max Factor Review and Giveaway!

Update: Thank you everyone for participating! Through random draw, the winner of the Max Factor product bag is Hanako66! Congratulations! I will be emailing you shortly to get your information.

This is a compensated review from BlogHer and Max Factor
maxfactor
When Blogher asked me to review the Max Factor Vivid Impact Lip Color and the 2000 Calorie Extreme Lash Plumper Mascara I of course had to do it as I'm never one to turn down makeup!

First of all, I think the packaging for Max Factor is really nice. Compared to other drugstore brands, it's got more of a luxe feel. I'm always one for sleek black packaging and I really like the feel and look of both the lipstick and the mascara packaging.

I am a lipgloss kind of girl as my experience with lipsticks has usually dried out my lips. When I do wear lipstick I always put lipgloss over it. I was pleasantly surprised by the Vivid Impact Lip Color as it went on really smoothly and wasn't drying at all. In the pictures above I am just wearing the lip color, no lip gloss over it. I wore it throughout the day and it had pretty good lasting power, only have to apply after I ate something.

As most of you know, I'm a fan of false lashes however I'm always on the hunt for a good mascara as I don't wear lashes all the time. The biggest pet peeve of mascara are the black streaks that I end up getting on the bottom of my eyes from my mascara rubbing off. This mascara exclaimed to "plump" lashes which is kind of a weird term but I guess it's just trying to say that it will make them look fuller. I'm not so sure about making them fuller as my lashes looked pretty much the same. What I did like about the mascara was that it went on really smoothly with no clumping. I hate clumping! I always try to brush them out and then my lashes look even worse. Thank goodness no clumping with this mascara. I wore it the whole day and didn't get the dark under eye look.

For my eyes, I used the Vivid Impact Eyeshadow Duo in Domino Effect and I LOVE it! The pigment is amazing as is the ability to blend the colors. I will be buying more of the colors!

Overall, I loved the three products that I tried and will be checking out more of their products!

And a good review is not complete without a giveaway! We are giving away a Max Factor product bag worth $50!

And of course I'm a follower. :)

I only use mascara when I'm really dressy (always lash curler), but my fave daily product is cheek stain. It just looks incredibly natural!

Lately I've been a huge fan of Cover Girl Lashblast. Would be fun to try MF.

Hi! I'm a follower of your blog. My favorite eyeliner is Clinique's cream liner in black. With an angled brush, the application is so easy and it stays put all day, even though sweaty workouts. Best of all, it's easy to take off with facial wipes or makeup remover.

Eye liner makes everything alright.

I follow you, hi :)

My favorite beauty tip that has prevented clown look-alike problems for me is if you're wearing a smokey eye...clear lip gloss is the best choice, too much color takes away from the dramatic eye.

I love new make up, but my favorite make up accessory is gloss. I carry about 8 in my purse currently, and 2 in every place I frequent, desk drawer, car, kitchen, lol!

If I only could use one beauty product it would def be bronzer...just to give myself a little color. Mascara is a close second. christinasfavoritethings@gmail.com

Hey Tiff, I have too many favorite beauty products, so my beauty tip is that I curl my eyelashes BEFORE putting on eyeliner because it's easier for me to get closer to the lash line. Also, when I curl my eyelashes after my liner, the curler can remove or imprint onto the liner, so curling beforehand usually takes care of that.

P.S. I already follow you, and I made a little shout-out to your contest here:

My must have makeup item is Benefit's eye primer (F.Y.Eye!). It allows me to buy inexpensive eyeshadow that doesn't flake off. The investment in the primer is key!!

Love your review! My fav beauty product is the maybelline waterproof eyeliner. I've tried tons of other eyeliners but I find Maybelline is the best! It's hard to rub off, it stays on long, and so easy to apply. The quality is great that you only need to apply it once unlike some other ones where you have to apply multiple times to get the color to properly show.

i am ALWAYS searching for great mascara. I always run into 2 problems with mascara the under eye remanence totally would drive me crazy and after i'd curl my lashes they would stay up. I switched Loreal water proof mascara and its definitely helped keep my lashes curled up and less smudges.

i really like the lipstick color. its always hard to find that perfect shade of pink! the package looks great!

Im going to put this on my side bar!

I normally buy a product based on packaging. That's so sad... but I'm a graphics major and I know that good products normally come in attractive packaging. :-)

My go to beauty item right now is a tinted moisturizer. I have an Aveno one right now, but during the summer my face always get dry and if I put on too much make up I wind up breaking out.

I'm a follower on your other one, but I'm adding this one to follower in about two seconds. I'm adding it to my sidebar, as well. :-)

My favorite beauty tip is 2-3 times a week I take the normal amount of my facial cleanser that I use to wash my face and put it in the palm of my hand. I then add 1 tsp of regular oatmeal to it and mix it together. Then I gently wash my face with this mixture and the oatmeal in with my cleanser gently exfoliates my skin naturally and whisks away all the dead skin so my new fresh skin can glow all day! I have been doing this regularly for months now and it works for me! Thanks so much for the opportunity to enter.

Ok, I think I'm not duplicating (and you can get my email from my comment). My favorite beauty tip is to not forget to wash your brushes regularly. If you let the makeup and oils build up in them without washing, they don't work as well, and your coverage isn't as smooth and even.

Instead of buying pore strips that I have to use more than one during one facial, I use regular scotch clear tape. I tear a piece a tape that would fit my nose perfectly, i put the tape on my nose and firmly rub it for a minute or so, then i pull the tape off in a fast motion. Repeating the process is okay because unlike pore strips, tape is a lot more affordable and most of the time handy.

I've also struggled with the dreaded under-eye "raccoon" look of wandering mascara. Recently I've been using a Prescriptives brand of mascara that really does the trick (no drunken raccoon look), but because of its price (around $19, I think), a less expensive option would be much appreciated. Will be trying the 2000 Calorie mascara to see how it works.
